The advent season is here! And many of us are preparing actively to celebrate the first coming of Jesus by giving and receiving gifts. Let’s not get lost in the festivities and lose sight of preparing for the all-important, destiny-defining, second advent of King Jesus. He is coming soon to reward everyone according to what they have done. Be wise: prepare to meet Jesus by doing His will.
Are you happy with your life? Many of us have bought the lie that more stuff will bring us happiness in life. Jesus, however, warns against the dangers of covetousness in our search for happiness and fulfillment in life. True and everlasting happiness begins with the new birth in Jesus Christ, and is more fully realized as we continue to seek after the things that are above.
We live in a highly distracted society. Many of us spend more time on our cellphones entertaining ourselves rather than wirelessly communicating with our heavenly Father in prayer. Our time on earth is short. The highest and best work we can do in this life is to pray, especially intercessory prayer.
We live in a tit for tat culture where we argue with, demonize, and even wish evil on those who reject or persecute us. This behavior is characteristic of a demonic and worldly spirit. In contrast, the Spirit of Jesus is always gentle, peace-loving, and life-giving even when dealing with opponents or those who persecute us.
We will all be tempted by our flesh. And Satan and his demonic forces will also attack us to cause us to sin. To stand during these attacks, we need to take up the whole armor of God. We also need to be in fellowship with other faithful believers who will hold us up in prayers.
God is not impressed by our “great acts” of religious services, sacrifices, worship or traditions. God is looking to dwell in a poor and broken person that will utterly depend on and obey His Son Jesus Christ.
Contrary to the opinion that we shouldn’t ask God questions, the Bible actually teaches otherwise. God invites us to openly and honestly bring our questions to Him. He doesn’t get mad or upset when we ask Him questions. The problem with many of us is that we are oftentimes impatient and not persistent or resolute to wait for Him in prayer until He answers. God is good, all the time, and there is no evil in Him. His goodness and love for you is demonstrated in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Come to Him today with your questions.
God’s not dead nor has He abandoned His creation like some say. Our Creator God does not sleep nor slumber. He sustains the universe and doesn’t grow weak or tired. He has been working since the fall of mankind to reconcile the world to Himself through Jesus Christ because of His great love for us. Even though He can do all things, yet He invites us to work with Him.
Do you fear God? The fear of God is not terror of God but rather a deep reverential respect for God. The fear of God has many great benefits. Draw near to God and learn to fear Him.
There is an epidemic of loneliness in today’s society. Technology, busyness, and our culture of individualism are some of the key contributing factors to loneliness. Many of us don’t have deep friendships besides our spouses and immediate family members. It is not God’s will for us to be alone. We need to repent, and live out counter-culturally the New Testament foundational practice of devoting ourselves to pursuing deep fellowship in the church.
The gospel is the power of God to save anyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ. There are many kinds of false gospel narratives today. The essential facts of the gospel remain: Christ died; Christ was buried; and Christ was raised from the dead. Receive this simple gospel that is still transforming lives today.
The second coming of Jesus Christ is imminent. When He returns, He will give eternal life to whoever receives His free gift of forgiveness of sins but whoever does not receive Him will suffer severe consequences – everlasting punishment. God is patiently waiting for you to turn to Him. Time is running out. Come to Jesus today.
In God’s household, which is the church of the living God, all people, especially outsiders, are welcome; and are united in peace with God and with one another by the blood of Jesus Christ. The members of God’s household have equal access with boldness to God, and their way of life is guided by the Way of Jesus Christ as documented by His apostles in the Bible. Come, join and remain in God’s household today.
Just as physical sleep dulls our senses making us less responsive to external stimuli, even so spiritual sleep dulls our spiritual senses making us less responsive to God. To be spiritually asleep is dangerous. Jesus Christ is coming soon to finally save His followers from this evil age. Wake up! Let Jesus find you awake living for Him in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Do you understand the times? Do you know what God is currently doing in your city, nation, and on the earth? An understanding of the times in relation to the purpose of God will help you understand your purpose and what you need to do to join God in His work on the earth.
In our world today, many people are depressed and feeling hopeless, unsure of how to move forward. Jesus promises to make all things new – a new heaven and a new earth where there will be ‘no more death or mourning or crying or pain’. Followers of Jesus can wait patiently, fully assured and anchor their life to this promise of Jesus which will soon be fulfilled. Come to Jesus today, He will give you a sure and steadfast hope.
Leadership is greatly lacking at every level (personal, family, community) in our society. Most of today’s leadership paradigm is based on the pursuit of power and titles which promotes unhealthy competition and strife. In contrast to our modern paradigm of “working your way up” the ladder of success, Jesus taught His followers that the path to true greatness is by “working your way down” to become the lowest servant.
We live in a distracted age. Our attention and best energy is devoted to the pursuit of the good life, pleasure, pervasive entertainment, etc., which eventually leaves us empty and unfulfilled. You will only find everlasting and abundant life by seeking the One true God revealed in Jesus Christ alone, first and before all others, and with undivided devotion. Do you have a plan to pursue Jesus with undivided devotion?
Satan tempts in order to cause us to sin and destroy us, but God tests us in order for us to exercise and build up our faith muscles. The pursuit of a personal knowledge of God in devotion to the word of God and prayer will strengthen our faith in times of trials and temptations.
Suffering abound in our world. The good news is that the end of everything is near. Jesus is coming soon to make it all right. Prioritize doing the most important things in life by entering the Way of everlasting life by choosing Jesus. And continue steadfastly in this Way by praying constantly to God and deeply loving others.
There is an epidemic of identity crisis in today’s world but this should not be for the follower of Jesus Christ. As a believer, you are precious and chosen like Jesus. Your life has a purpose and meaning. You are set apart to continue the work of Jesus Christ our great High Priest. (1 Peter 2:1-10)
For ages past, mankind has been searching unsuccessfully for a way to live forever. God’s plan for living forever is to prefer His Way by choosing to live through Jesus Christ who will help you look out actively for your neighbor’s interests as if it were yours.
(Luke 10:25-37)
Globally, the proportion of the religiously unaffiliated aka “The Nones” is growing. Parents, especially fathers, have a responsibility to tell the coming generation diligently about the unchanging grace of God revealed in the living, and the life-giving Jesus Christ. (Psalm 78:1-8)
The dream of God from the beginning of creation is that all humans will be like the perfect Man, Jesus the Son of God. God made possible this new order of creation for anyone who believes in Jesus Christ on the day of Pentecost when the Spirit of God came to dwell in mankind. Receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit today to be like Jesus.
What is in a name? A name signifies the identity, authority, and essence of a person. The name of Jesus has unimaginable power and privileges. However, that privilege is only for those who know Him. Therefore, seek to grow in your knowledge of (intimacy with) Jesus Christ.
Trials and sorrows will surely come in this life. How do you overcome these inevitable life’s challenges? In Jesus, the Overcomer, you will also overcome if you dedicate yourself completely to Him and seek His help believingly.
